efa 2017 impresses as the most important marketplace for decision-makers in the building services and electrical engineering industries in Central Germany
The efa, which took place for the 15th time from September 20 to 22 at Leipzig’s Exhibition Center, focused on current trends and groundbreaking innovations in building services and electrical engineering. The parallel HIVOLTEC compliments the range by adding high and medium voltage technology. In spite of the outstanding order situation in the trade and resulting utilization, 12,200 visitors leveraged the opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of the market at the trade fairs. “We have once again managed to bring together all key stakeholders of the building services and electrical engineering industries at the efa, while even increasing the percentage of decision-makers. The quality of this year’s event was also confirmed by all. Participants also rated the prospects of good follow-up business after the trade fairs as highly positive.
As a result, the efa has confirmed its status as the most important industry platform in Central Germany again,” explains Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. On the evening before the trade fair, the Leipziger Messe and the efa’s sponsor associations extended the successful cooperation through 2025 at least. “HIVOLTEC took place together with the efa for the third time and has established itself as a very good addition in terms of offering,” Geisenberger adds.
The efa covers the entire range of building services and electrical technologies. Offerings relating to Smart Home applications and lighting solutions, among other things, were well received. Many visitors took the opportunity to find out about the future-oriented topic electromobility and to test drive various electric vehicles. The energy and measuring technology section as another popular focal point of the efa was also in demand at the HIVOLTEC. The “E-House” special exhibit of the German Association of Electrical and Information Technology Trades (ZVEH) demonstrated the impressive range of intelligent networked building services and technologies on an area of 100 sq. m. Besides the presentations in the four forums of the combined trade fairs, the wide variety of offerings for up-and-coming professionals proved to be visitor magnets.
The wide range of areas covered by the efa enjoyed great resonance among visitors. Nine out of ten visitors would recommend the efa to others. 84 percent indicated having met their goals for the trade fairs and thus plan to reattend again. More than three quarters of visitors support changing the dates of the trade fairs from October to September.
Exhibitors praise the quality of conversations and range of visitors on hand
“We rate our participation at the efa 2017 as very positive and even better than two years ago. The atmosphere was very well suited for presenting our new products in the field of presence detectors and intelligent lighting systems to trade visitors. We had many good discussions and were able to register a good response especially among planners. Our presentations in the Light Forum also met great interest,” reports Jürgen Kitz, Managing Director of ESYLUX Germany. Nine out of ten exhibitors praised the technical qualifications of visitors.
“We attended the efa in order to further improve our relations with existing customers and to canvass new customers here. This year was a great success in that regard. The response at our stand was good both in terms of quantity and quality. The efa is the most important trade fair for the region; as a result, you just have to be on hand as an exhibitor. After all, we have the best opportunity to convince many customers of our innovations over a period of three days. This would only be possible with a much greater expenditure. That is why we will definitely be back in two years,” says Michael Schadewitz, Regional Sales Manager at Busch-Jäger Elektro.
efa’s sponsor associations were very satisfied
The Trade Association for Electrical and Information Technology Saxony/ Thuringia and the electrical trade guild of Saxony-Anhalt were very satisfied with the efa 2017. “The electronic trade is currently in very high demand and thus enjoys an outstanding order situation. Still thousands of visitors came to the efa in order to find out about manufacturers’ new products and to gain in-depth knowledge. The increase in the number of apprentices on hand at this year's trade fair was also favorable. All in all, it was once again clear that the efa’s concept is on the right track and is well received by the industry,” explains Detlef Köhler, Managing Director of Trade Association for Electrical and Information Technology Saxony/ Thuringia.
Leipziger Messe and efa’s sponsor associations sign contract through 2025
On the day before the efa 2017 opened its doors, the Leipziger Messe, the Trade Association for Electrical and Information Technology Saxony/ Thuringia and the electrical trade guild of Saxony-Anhalt signed a contract to extend the cooperation beyond 2019. The new agreement defines the joint organization of the trade fair for building services, electrical engineering, lighting, air conditioning and automation for the years from 2021 to 2025. All stakeholders emphasized the great significance that the efa has for the electrical industry in Central Germany and praised the cooperation of the past ten years.
HIVOLTEC impresses visitors with its in-depth offering
The HIVOLTEC proved to be the ideal addition to the efa for a third time in a row. As Germany’s only trade fair specifically for high and medium-voltage technology, it focused primarily on topics like grid expansion, power supply, grid stability and integration of decentralized power generation systems. Technicians from grid and power plant operators as well as those representing industrial and commercial companies were on hand at exhibitor stands and at the HIVOLTEC Forum to provide information about new products and innovative technologies. In this way, the HIVOLTEC proved to be the ideal addition to the efa.
“We felt that the location of our stand and the integration with the efa were absolutely great. We would love to get the same complete package in two years. We were completely overwhelmed by the great response we had at our stand and enjoyed many good discussions during the entire trade fair. Our products were well received by the visitors and we managed to canvass many new customers. We came to Leipzig in order to improve the position of our own brand. Our conclusion: We are on the right track here,” reports Frank Staab, Sales Manager at ETI DE.
The next iteration of the efa and HIVOLTEC will take place between September 18 and 20, 2019.
About the efa
The 15th. efa - Exhibition for Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Lighting, Air Conditioning and Automation is an important platform for the sector for reaching and informing interested parties in Central Germany and adjacent regions. Here industrial and commercial interests are combined with the interests of users, architects, planners and investors. Experts are on hand as exhibitors and in the specialized program to present the latest topics and innovative technologies.
